Pro low-latency

Set up Pro on your TV

A one-time install on your Google TV unlocks near-instant, lip-synced mirroring. Standard mode stays free and needs none of this.

~0.25send-to-end latency
1080p–4Ksharp, smooth picture
~12×faster than standard
⬇ Download the TV receiver (.apk)
Installs on Google TV / Android TV. You'll also need BeamRight on your Mac.
You already cast for free with Standard. This page adds the near-instant ~0.25s, up-to-4K Pro upgrade — same app, same one-click cast.

1What you need

  • A Google TV or Android TV device — the same one BeamRight already casts to.
  • BeamRight on your Mac (the free app you already downloaded).
  • The TV and your Mac on the same Wi-Fi (no guest-network isolation).

2Install the receiver on the TV

EASIESTUsing the “Downloader” app

  • On the TV, install the free “Downloader” app from the Google TV Play Store.
  • Open Downloader and type this address:
beamright.pages.dev/BeamRight-TV.apk
  • Let it download, then choose Install. If the TV asks, allow “install unknown apps” for Downloader.

DEVELOPERUsing ADB (sideload)

Enable Developer options + USB/network debugging on the TV, then from your Mac:

adb connect <tv-ip>:5555
adb install BeamRight-TV.apk

3Activate & test

  • Open BeamRight Receiver on the TV — it shows “Waiting for your Mac”.
  • On your Mac, open BeamRight, click Rescan, and pick that TV.
  • Turn on the “⚡ Pro” switch that appears for it, then click Start Casting.
  • First connection: approve the prompt on the TV (one press of the remote). After that it auto-connects.
  • If Pro can't connect, BeamRight falls back to standard mode automatically — you're never stuck.

Honest note: ~0.25s is audio-bound — the floor is your TV's speaker hardware, and the picture is delayed to land in sync with it. It is not below 0.1s on TV speakers.

🎚Two latency modes

  • A/V sync (default) — ~0.25s, with TV audio, lip-synced. Best for video and anything with speech.
  • Picture-first — ~0.06s, lowest latency; the TV is muted (use your Mac or external speakers). Great for dashboards, slides, and live demos.

Switch anytime in BeamRight on your Mac, right under the ⚡ Pro toggle.

🖥Picture quality & frame rate

  • 1080p60 by default — sharp and the most compatible.
  • 4K / native resolution — sends your Mac's full native pixels (a laptop panel is ~3K; a 4K external display is true 4K). Needs a TV that decodes 4K; auto-detected, falls back to 1080p.
  • 30fps, or 60fps (experimental at 4K — needs ~36–60 Mbps; wired or Wi-Fi 6 recommended).
  • HDR (HLG) — on an HDR-capable TV, Pro sends true HDR and the TV enters HDR mode, auto-detected from your content. On other TVs the picture is tone-mapped to correct SDR.

Choose these in BeamRight on your Mac, under the ⚡ Pro toggle.

🔒Privacy

Pro sends your screen over your local Wi-Fi, unencrypted — use it on networks you trust. There is no cloud, no account, and no tracking. (The standard cast path has the same plaintext-LAN posture.)

Do the math: Pro is less than a fifth of a $129+ Apple TV 4K — and far less than a $300+ AirPlay smart TV. Keep the TV you have, add an onn 4K dongle (~$30–40), and you're done. Already have an Apple TV? Your Mac already AirPlays to it — you don't need us.
